Career highlights: Sujjain Talwar is a co-founding partner of Economic Laws Practice. He heads the hospitality and infrastructure practices and co-heads the corporate & commercial and private equity & venture capital practices. He has over 20 years of experience, and is a qualified solicitor in India and in England and Wales. He ranked first in the solicitor’s examinations, with special awards for company law and direct taxation.
Sujjain has worked extensively on private sector participation initiatives in infrastructure projects in India and abroad, including real estate and hospitality. He has acted in over 65 hotel transactions involving almost every international hotel operator in India. He was on the jury for the Hotel Investment Forum of India’s 2015 awards.
Sujjain has been instrumental in developing ELP’s infrastructure and banking & finance practices. Recent transactions include advising New Silk Route Advisors in the sale of its stake in Destimoney Enterprises to Carlyle which also resulted in an indirect acquisition of a 49% stake in Punjab National Bank Housing Finance. This deal has been recognised as the private equity & venture capital deal of the year by India Business Law Journal.
