Mr. Yan is highly regarded for his extensive experience in and long-standing commitment to marine insurance. Over the past decade, he has fostered strong links with clients both at home and abroad and successfully handled hundreds of comprehensive disputes with sound strategic advice.

At the meantime, Mr. Yan is devoted to helping companies to raise awareness of shipping and freight risk management and build an internal risk management system. He is also active in promoting cooperation between corporates and various platforms so as to promote the development of supply chain.

Mr. Yan is the Deputy Director of the Maritime Law Committee of All China Lawyer Association (ACLA), a member of China Maritime Law Association (CMLA), an off-campus supervisor of Shanghai Maritime University and East China University of Political Science and Law, and a member on the arbitrator panel of China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC) , Nanjing Arbitration Commission, Dalian Arbitration Commission and Qinzhou Arbitration Commission.

  • Act on behalf of Nantong Ocean Water Conservancy Engineering Co., Ltd and advise Huaneng Group on an 825 million CNY litigation case against China National Petroleum Company, Yoco Port and their insurers.
  • Advised Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company Limited (“ZPMC”) and its insurance company on a 12 million USD allision claim against “MSC ROSA M” and the P&I Club.
  • Advised Neptune Supply Chain Technology Shanghai Limited in a series of litigation and arbitration proceedings relevant to the containers collapsing accident on m/v “Great Beauty”.
