Grab Holdings' $600 million acquisition of Foodpanda's Taiwan operations from Delivery Hero is our Deal of the Month for April.

Grab Holdings completed the $600 million cash acquisition of Delivery Hero's Foodpanda delivery platform in Taiwan, marking the Southeast Asian super-app's first expansion outside its home region. The deal expands Grab's presence across 21 cities in Taiwan, where Foodpanda generated approximately $1.8 billion in gross merchandise value in 2025. It comes after Uber Technologies' failed acquisition of the same business was blocked by Taiwan's antitrust regulator in March 2025.

This landmark transaction signals Grab's ambitions beyond Southeast Asia and sets a new precedent for regional super-apps expanding into Northeast Asian markets.

Clifford Chance and Lee & Li advised Delivery Hero, with Clifford Chance's Singapore managing partner Valerie Kong leading the transaction, supported by counsel Ivan Chan and senior associates George Lau and Cecilia Chan.
