Mulong Gong of King & Wood Mallesons is our February lawyer of the month for his lead role in Muyuan Foods’ $1.375 billion Hong Kong Stock Exchange debut, one of the largest IPOs by a Chinese consumer staples company this year. The offering marks a significant milestone for China's leading pork producer as it pursues overseas expansion into Southeast Asian markets.
As a member of King & Wood Mallesons' China Management Committee and managing partner of the firm's Beijing office, Gong brings over two decades of experience in capital markets transactions. His practice spans domestic and overseas listings, enterprise restructuring, and private equity fund formation, with particular expertise in public offerings across both A-share and Hong Kong markets.
Gong has been instrumental in shaping China's capital markets landscape, having advised on multiple "first-of-their-kind" transactions. His notable work includes advising on ICBC's shareholding system reform and dual listing, as well as China National Petroleum Corporation's Hong Kong and US debuts. He also spearheaded NetEase's NASDAQ listing and advised on Pop Mart's Hong Kong IPO and Li Auto's US listing.
Beyond equity capital markets, Gong is highly active in fund formation and M&A. He has advised on the establishment and fundraising of dozens of domestic and offshore funds. His significant transactions in this space include advising on Dalian Port’s merger with Yingkou Port by share swap, and the corresponding fund and the privatisation of ikang.
