King & Wood Mallesons appoints Zhang Yi as new China Chairman
King & Wood Mallesons has appointed former Hong Kong office co-chief Zhang Yi as the firm’s new China Chairman. Zhang joined the firm in 1996 and led the Shanghai office before his move to Hong Kong. He specialises in private equity fund formation and investments, M&A, corporate restructuring, domestic/offshore IPOs, and outbound investments by Chinese companies.

ONC Lawyers has hired Lawrence Yeung as a partner for its IP and technology practice in Hong Kong. Yeung has more than 10 years of experience in IP, advising on copyright, patent filings, trade mark and licensing, domain names, design protection, enforcement and litigation.
ZICO Law expands in Vietnam and Malaysia
ZICO Law has added Vietnamese lawyer Phuc Nguyen and his firm Garnet Law to its regional practice. Nguyen, who set up Garnet in 2007, becomes a partner in Ho Chi Minh City. He has been advising local and foreign clients on real estate, corporate and commercial matters. This brings the headcount in the Vietnam office to three partners and 15 associates.
ZICO Law has also added Chow Wan San and Tan Hui Lynn as partners in Malaysia. Chow focuses on banking and finance and advises local and foreign financial institutions, purchases and lessors on asset financing, derivatives and cross-border bilateral and syndicated loan transactions. Tan specialises in cross-border corporate and commercial transactions, M&A and foreign direct investments.

Sayat Zholshy & Partners in Kazakhstan has promoted tax specialist Yelena Tyureikina to its partnership. She has more than 18 years of experience in tax and corporate law. Before joining the firm, Tyureikina worked as in-house counsel in public service and private companies.
