Represented Novartis in securing a patent for an invention which relates to a blockbuster drug for hypertension and heart failure. The judgment is of great significance as it clarifies the scope of rights of a pre-grant opponent and the procedure to be followed by the controller in handling pre-grant oppositions and examination of patent applications.

Engaged by Société des Produits Nestlé for an appeal against the order of the Controller of Patents after it refused its patent application on the ground of non-patentability and non-compliance of amendments made to the claim under a section of the Patent Act.
