Fang Qi of Fangda Partners wins our April lawyer of the month award for his work on Michael Jordan’s trademark dispute against Qiaodan Sports.
Qi has represented former NBA basketball player Michael Jordan in a trademark infringement case against Fujian-based sportswear producer China Qiaodan Sports.
This is the third verdict made by the Supreme People's Court concerning a series of cases about the infringement of Jordan’s name and portrait. The latest ruling overturns two previous verdicts in favour of the Chinese firm and prohibits Qiaodan Sports from using the Chinese translation of Jordan's name as well as requires the logo to be retried by the trademark office.
Qi’s IP practice covers patent, trade secret, trademark, copyright and antitrust litigations with extensive experience in the electronics, telecommunication, new energy, pharmaceutical, consumer goods, and manufacturing sectors.
