Joseph Tisuthiwongse of Chandler Mori Hamada is our May lawyer of the month for his lead role in the $880 million green loan financing for the 100MW BKK Campus data centre in Chonburi. Reported to be Thailand’s largest data centre project financing ever completed, this landmark transaction marks a monumental achievement for the region’s digital infrastructure. Designed to handle AI and data-intensive workloads at scale, the project was structured under Digital Edge's Green Financing Framework in support of the company's 2030 carbon neutrality target. The BKK Campus stands as the third in a series of green loan transactions by Digital Edge across Asia-Pacific that have each set national records, bringing the Digital Edge's total regional green funding to more than $2 billion.
As co-managing partner at Chandler Mori Hamada, Tisuthiwongse brings extensive experience in banking, project financing, and M&A, with a particular focus on the renewable energy sector in Thailand and across Southeast Asia. His portfolio spans some of the most significant energy and infrastructure financings in the Thai market. He advised Levanta Renewables on its acquisition of a fully operational 91 MWp+ ground-mounted solar portfolio in Thailand and acted for syndicated lenders on the financing of a greenfield 102.6 MW hyperscale data centre facility in Rayong Province. He also played a key role in advising on Actis' first Thailand investment under its Southeast Asia Renewables Platform, Levanta Renewables. Beyond energy and infrastructure, his practice extends to the aviation sector, where his team has supported a fast-growing regional airline.
Prior to joining the firm in 2018, Tisuthiwongse was a partner in the Bangkok office of Clifford Chance and he has accumulated significant banking and project finance experience in the US and the UK. He is currently ranked as a Distinguished Practitioner in asialaw for banking and finance.
